Birding Station

About the Birding Station

The Driftwood Birding Station is located in the back of the Driftwood Nature Preserve on the church property diagonally across from the Driftwood Community Church. This station is supported by members of the Hays County Master Naturalists and the Driftwood Historical Conservation Society.

Birders of all ages and experience levels are welcome to enjoy watching the birds and/or volunteer for Project FeederWatch (PFW) to perform bird counts. PFW is a national research project of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, the Driftwood Birding Station is a registered site.

The Driftwood Birding Station is home to an incredible variety of birds, and some visitors have become familiar faces to those who spend time here. These “frequent fliers” are the species most often spotted at the station, delighting birders with their colors, songs, and personalities. Keep an eye out for these regulars on your next visit!
