Fall birding is taking flight in Driftwood! Whether you’re an experienced birder or just curious about getting started, Bird with a Birder is the event for you. Led by volunteers with Hays County Master Naturalists, this event aims to bring seasoned birders together to share their knowledge, welcome new birders into the flock, and create opportunities for everyone to enjoy the beauty of birding.

The first outing takes flight at the Driftwood Birding Station on Saturday, September 20th at 8:30 AM. All birders are welcome, especially “want-to-be” birders, and families are encouraged to join. Birding is a wonderful way to connect with nature, slow down, and discover the magic of the outdoors. After all, nature is good for you, and birding is good for you! Use this form to RSVP today!

The Driftwood Birding Station is located on FM 150 in downtown Driftwood, across from the

Driftwood Community Church, just south of Elder Hill Road and FM 150. Please park at the front of the property and walk to the birding station at the back.

Be sure to bring:

  • chair(s)

  • filled water bottle(s)

  • birdnoculars

  • field guides

  • bug spray

Before you visit, please load the Merlin app on your phone. The birds listed are the most common at the Driftwood Birding Station. You can learn more about each bird by visiting The Cornell Lab: All About Birds website.
