Fall is in the air, and it is the perfect time to gather in Driftwood. From birding walks to learning a new game, sharing a meal with neighbors, and helping keep Driftwood beautiful, there are plenty of ways to connect and enjoy the season together. Mark your calendars, invite a friend, and be part of the fun that makes Driftwood such a special place!
Bird with a Birder!

Fall birding is taking flight in Driftwood! Whether you’re an experienced birder or just curious about getting started, Bird with a Birder is for you. Led by volunteers with Hays County Master Naturalists, this event aims to bring seasoned birders together to share their knowledge, welcome new birders into the flock, and create opportunities for everyone to enjoy the beauty of birding.
The first outing takes flight at the Driftwood Birding Station on Saturday, September 20th at 8:30 AM. All are welcome, especially “want-to-be” birders, and families are encouraged to join in. Birding is a wonderful way to connect with nature, slow down, and discover the magic of the outdoors! Use this form to RSVP today!
The Driftwood Birding Station is located on FM 150 in downtown Driftwood, across from the Driftwood Community Church, just south of Elder Hill Road. and FM 150. Please park at the front of the property and walk to the birding station at the back. Be sure to bring a chair, water, birdnoculars, and bug spray. Click here for more information!
Mahjong Mondays: Learn Mahjong!
Dates: 9/29, 10/6, 10/20, and 10/27

Mahjong is coming to Driftwood! Join us at the Community Center for a four-part introduction series starting Monday, September 29th at 6:00 PM. These evenings are all about learning together, having fun, and building community. By the end of October, you’ll be ready to keep the games going at regular Mahjong Nights in Driftwood starting later this year!
September 29: Lesson 1# Introduction to Mahjong
October 6: Lesson #2 Refresher and continued practice
October 20: Lesson #3 Enhance your skills
October 27: Lesson #4 Leave prepared to continue on your own
Driftwood Community Night

Location: Driftwood Community Church Pavilion (directly across from the Church on FM 150) – this event will be outside (weather permitting) so please dress appropriately.
Join us on Saturday, October 4th at 6:30 PM for Driftwood Community Night! This is the perfect chance to catch up with old friends, meet new neighbors, and enjoy a variety of delicious dishes and desserts prepared by our amazing community members. We’ll have domino games set out for everyone to enjoy—regular dominos, Mexican Train, and Chicken Foot.
And this month, we’re adding a little friendly competition to the mix: a pie contest! Bring your best homemade pie and see if it takes the top prize. See below for more details on the pie contest and how to enter.
If it’s your first time attending, you’re in for a treat. This event is the heart of our neighborhood—a warm, welcoming evening where you can relax, connect, and experience the spirit of Driftwood. Bring your favorite dish or dessert to share—and if you love to bake, don’t forget your award-worthy pie!
Driftwood HCS Pie Contest
Here’s how it works:
Bring your best homemade pie (sweet or savory, anything goes!)
No store-bought pies
Please label your pie with your name and what’s in it (so everyone knows what they’re digging into).
Judging & Fun:
Neighbors will sample and vote for their favorites
Categories include: Best Overall, Most Creative, and Crowd Favorite
Ribbons and bragging rights for the winners!
How to Join In: Just show up with your pie! No sign-up required. Come hungry, bring your sweet tooth, and let’s see who bakes the best pie on the block!

She’ll share insights on Cox Family water conservation, rainwater collection, and their interactions with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). See you there!
Don’t Mess with Texas Road Cleanup

Join us Saturday, October 18th for our quarterly Don’t Mess with Texas Road Cleanup! Meet us at the Driftwood Community Center at 15112 W RR 150. Coffee & donuts will be served at 8:30 AM and cleanup will begin at 9:00 AM. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring along a pair of gloves! Meet your neighbors and help us keep Driftwood beautiful!
