Hays County wants to hear from you! In the upcoming weeks Hays County will host Open Houses where the community can weigh in on new development regulations and road projects. Learn more below!

Hays County Development Regulations

Hays County Development Services has released a preliminary draft of the County's updated Development Regulations and is inviting residents, developers, property owners and other stakeholders to attend a series of open house meetings to review the proposed changes and provide feedback.

Key topics addressed in the draft include:

  • Water availability and conservation

  • Water quality and stormwater management

  • Erosion and sediment control

  • Floodplain management

  • Environmental protection

  • Transportation infrastructure

"The Development Regulations help guide how growth occurs in Hays County, and it's important that they reflect both our current needs and our vision for the future," said Hays County Development Services Interim Director Michael Berlad. "We encourage everyone with an interest in the future of our communities to review the draft, attend an open house and share their perspectives. Public feedback and transparency are an essential part of creating regulations that are effective, balanced and responsive to the needs of Hays County."
