Volunteers Needed Nature Trail Saturday November 9th

Good afternoon Driftwood Teammates. Your Beautification Committee is asking for help to complete the second-to-last phase of the Driftwood nature trail build.

Please come out to help us smooth-out the ground and lay down landscape fabric along the 1,500 foot trail next Saturday, November 9, 2024 starting at 8:30am. Coffee and donuts will be served under the church pavilion starting at 8:00am so we all have a 1/2hr to socialize. We'll start work promptly at 8:30am and break at 11:30am for a good solid 3 hours of Driftwood comradery.

Work will consist of cutting, laying, and pinning the 5 foot wide swaths of fabric over the trail (the rolls of fabric are 5ft by 100ft).  We'll have two, maybe three teams with some folks cutting and laying the fabric, some pinning it in place (we have 6 inch-long steel landscape staples), and some raking and smoothing the trail ahead of the fabric lay-down so it goes down smoothly.

Kids are welcomed and encouraged as it is a chance for them to participate in some community action!

Location: Directly across the street from the Driftwood Cemetery on RM150.

Please bring/wear the following:

  • hats

  • sunscreen

  • bug spray

  • a hammer or mallet

  • work gloves

  • long pants

  • sunglasses

  • a sense of humor!

We'll provide a cooler full of Gatorade and water.

Please RSVP to John Gerlaugh so we can get a head count for coffee. donuts, water and Gatorade.
